Lovely to get a mention on the Laura Ashley Blog…I was asked among 15 Bloggers to come up with a use for the throw…as it was the middle of winter, a lot of us suggested wrapping yourself up in it and drinking Hot Chocolate – unsurprisingly!
As a brand Laura Ashley constantly re-invent themselves and always think outside the box – anyone who thinks of them as the ‘girls blouse’ of interior design needs to think again and take a fresh look at their twenty-first century products.
We photographed this fabulous Highland home, the owner’s son works as a designer for Laura Ashley, so they had a really up to the minute take on the brand…
I love the mirrored furniture, the Geisha cushion, the duck egg stool, the chaise, the bedside lamps and mirror…all Laura Ashley!
Received this mouth-watering email from a favourite blogger this week – Charlie & Evelyn’s Table offering delicious homemade meals for your freezer – with a revised menu of Winter Warmers for January 2014!
‘All of our dishes are homemade with premium and where possible, local ingredients. There is a minimum order of five dishes, hand-delivery (in Edinburgh) can be arranged as needed.’ They are currently taking email orders for delivery on or around 31st January at email@example.com. ‘Mention Her Indoors and we’ll give you a batch of our triple chocolate cookies to enjoy, completely free‘ explains Rachel, the ‘Evelyn’ of this set up – How can you resist??
Charlie & Evelyn’s Table is a sell out Supper Club in Edinburgh’s Inverleith…Run by gifted food enthusiasts, Rachel and Chris Rowley, a young married couple who named their business after Chris’s grandmother’s well scrubbed family table that they inherited…
Working full time on Chris’s part and looking after two little girls on Rachel’s, means that the supper club can only be an ‘occasional event’, however, they are hoping that their ‘ready meals’ service might be more sustainable.
We have had the wonderful opportunity to photograph their kitchen for Beautiful Kitchens magazine – look out for it in the April issue…in the shops in March

I know, you’re busy, but delicious, homemade food, enjoyed together is more important than ever – so make it easy for yourself!
I dream of a lovely room with a double bed, a pretty bedside table on either side, with a carafe of water on one side and a box of tissues on the other, bedside lamps, an empty wardrobe or a chest of drawers at least…
But hang on – where would my office go?? My desk? My magazine collection?? Well, I do have a very comfortable sofabed in my office and it is absolutely fine – my desk makes a perfectly adequate bedside table and my desk lamp works fine as a bedside light…
By the same token, any guest sleeping on a sofa bed in a TV room is going to feel very spoilt – after an evening of debate and hilarity what could be nicer than snuggling down and falling asleep in front of a late movie?
Not many of us have the luxury of a stand-alone guest room…most seem to, almost inevitably, double up as a playroom, a study, a TV room…
The playroom/guestroom is probably my least favourite combination – tidying up a mountain of plastic toys in preparation for a friends arrival can be harder for the hosts than climbing K2 itself and, unless the guest is also a two year old, an uninspiring setting once the chat is over…sorry give me a TV or a magazine any day over a toy car or a dolly…
Mind you…if I had this little Poppet coming to wake me up with a cup of tea…
I love the classic designs from Willow & Hall…..I know that the Somerton would work well in my home, modern and simple…
The Dunsmore is beautful too…you could just sink into it couldn’t you? This style has a Gatsby note to it – very ‘now’ and the soft grey fabric is elegant but practical too.
The beauty of Willow & Hall furniture is the quality…hand made, by skilled craftsmen in Wiltshire, with that all important ‘easy action’, they are as comfortable as sofas as they are as beds. There really is no compromise.
