I was approached by our local school PTA to offer a prize at a fundraiser recently and under only very slight pressure – honestly (!), I said that I would do an ‘Interior Style Defining Session’ with the lucky winner, where I would do a walk through of their home and with the help of a Visual Q&A, enable them to decide on a style that really works for them.
Passionate about this subject, I feel it is really important to get this right. I think it is as crucial that you feel comfortable when folk walk into your home as when you step outside. Your home should say what you want it to say, in the same way that your clothes should say what you want them to say!
One of my favourite styles is, of course, ‘Industrial Chic’…I will not be forcing this on the winner – she will be getting a choice, I do promise! But it is definitely a personal favourite of mine!
Went for a coffee the other day with my BFF in North Berwick and got quite excited by this brilliant salvaged coffee table…coffee, cake, chat and industrial chic furniture – my idea of heaven!
Not an easy look to do though, I am afraid. It is not widely available on the High street…and I am not sure if the High street is ‘the place to go’ anyway, if you are looking for a really strong style for your home…True style comes from within, I reckon: knowing what you like and working with what you already have…a clear out can actually be more useful than a mega-trip to the shops if you want to improve your home – sorry!
However, a great starting point if you are keen on the industrial Chic look has got to be the Trade Furniture Company, an online, ethical store with an absolutely amazing selection of Industrial Chic gold!!
Imagine actually having all that salvaged gorgeousness in your house!!
